What this does differently
It measures before it enlarges. Many “low resolution” photos have plenty of pixels and little detail — a forwarded image, a crop that was already enlarged once. The detail check finds the sharpest part of the photo, halves it, puts it back and looks at what was lost; from that it reports the detail size the photo really carries and recommends the factor it supports. After the enlargement, the result is weighed against the same photo interpolated to the same size. For JPEG blocking and noise, the increase image quality page cleans before it enlarges.
What it will not do
- It cannot recover detail that was never recorded.
- The effective detail size is an estimate from one window, not a resolution standard.
- A “yes” from the detail check means more edge detail than a plain enlargement — not that the added detail is true to the scene.
